Scope of Service

SHP has the complete range of skills, experience and tools within our team to undertake Business Case preparation for healthcare organisations. These include:

Conceptualising and developing a full range of service change objectives, supported by evidence based analysis;
Clinical modelling at Health Economy, Whole Hospital and Directorate levels;
Providing and/or coordinating team working including financial and technical sections within cases;
Experience of Acute, Mental Health and Primary Care Service Business Cases;
Demographic and Service trend analysis;
Estate analysis and technical design services including local development control authority engagement;
Support with Business Case presentation, stakeholder consultation, option appraisal and approvals.

Buy-in

At whatever level, SHP understand that a case has to be compelling and needs to provide clarity of purpose relevant to others within the Health Economy. It needs to relate to wider and more progressive clinical models and networks; secure ‘buy in’ to changes in clinical practice and procedures; convey clear arguments supported by sound analysis and robust evidence; involve wider stakeholders, and support the requirements of the Gateway review process. SHP is skilled in authoring documents in line with HM Treasury / DOH and local submission standards including the ‘5 case’ model and traditional approaches at BJC, SOC, OBC and FBC stages.

Help where needed

Our successful approach to business case development, includes facilitation of clinical and managerial team discussions to develop models of care; involving stakeholders in care pathway development to ensure the necessary ‘buy in’ to service changes; developing illustrative capital planning design solutions to assist the financial and non-financial appraisal process. Our hands-on assistance is available to help co-ordinate design and planning team meetings, manage project programming, analyse clinical activity and capacity planning, and identify systematic evaluation of options.
