We offer innovation through our broad UK and International experience and our products utilise highly developed methodologies that are supported by evidenced-based departmental and room planning standards.

Communication is key at all stages and we provide a range of outputs:

Functional content preparation including adjacency, relationship and flow diagrams (to support service option appraisal and estate planning);
Developed Schedules of Accommodation (to support capital cost controlled design development), and;
Preparation and refinement of Room Data Sheets, including equipment scheduling, loading and management;
We undertake feasibility studies (ranging from major concept studies down to detailed option planning and room layouts);
We offer 1:500, 1:200, 1:50 drawing production and/or review and reporting on validation criteria at all planning levels associated with the proposed models of care.

Harnessing best practice through collaboration

By ensuring meaningful partnership and collaboration with clinical and administrative end-users, we can focus on each project’s uniqueness and best practice objectives. We can lead / or direct the technical team whilst helping to manage expectation. The perception of space and its impact often presents the greatest challenge to users and we are practiced in helping to assess and explain proposed space and equipment planning and budgeting changes to clinical teams.

Contribution to National Design Standards

SHP has been commissioned as part of a wider team to undertake a high level review of UK national design standards and Health Building Notes (HBN’s). We can add value through on-going research, providing information based on current best practice, prevention of infection and operational efficiency. We use benchmarking and evidence based criteria, to produce exemplar standards to ensure consistency in planning.
